I bet I caught your attention with that headline!

Now, I want you to think back to your childhood.  Do you ever remember playing any sports or childhood games with a square ball?

I can’t think of one single tennis, soccer, t-ball, or basketball game I played with a square ball and I am betting you can’t either.

So what does this have to do with chiropractic? Your Clinic? Your Staff? Your Patients?

Actually, it has a lot to do with them and the products you provide in your clinic.

If you have been at a convention that we have attended in the last six months or so you know that we have spent a lot of time, money, and energy figuring out ways to create more value for our clients.  This all started about 6 months ago when one of the state chiropractic associations asked us to come give a talk on retail and the products that our clients had success selling. 

We received such positive feedback and other requests that we felt it would be beneficial to provide our clients with more information on retailing so that they could increase their bottom line and provide a higher level of service to their patients. 

Ok so back to square balls and how they became a golden nugget.

A few months ago my dad and I were having a brainstorming session with some other business friends and we were talking about retailing. More specifically, we were discussing a client who did a lot of rehab but had very few patients that purchased exercise balls.  The client did have the balls on a retail kiosk but they were square (because they were still in the box).   

They didn’t have any inflated balls in the office and they also didn’t have the patients do any rehab exercises while they were in the office.  There was no way for people to try them out and there was really no reason for them to purchase one.  So make sure you inflate the balls, after all it’s kind of hard to exercise or bounce around on a square ball.

There is really no way to sell products if you don’t have protocols to implement them into your daily routine. 

If you have been struggling to sell exercise balls in your clinic or if you have not carried them before here are a few tips to get you started:

1.       Take away the office chairs.  If your staff is up to it, take away their chairs and substitute exercise balls instead.  It’s a great conversation starter and an instant way to get patients interested.  My wife and I both swapped our chairs out for exercise balls about a year ago and we love it and so will your abs.

 

2.      Utilize Free Resources.  I urge you to check out Thera-band Academy.  They have a wealth of articles, patient brochures, product handouts and much more. (Plus it is 100% Free)  You can print exercises from this site and give them to your patients to take home with their new exercise ball.

3.       Have at Least One Inflated Ball.  People can try it out and if someone wants to purchase one who doesn’t already have a pump, they can just buy the inflated one.  This also gives them fewer excuses to not do the exercise when their ball is already inflated.
