Force of Nature: The Ultimate Chemical-Free Germ and Virus Killer

One of the most promising new disinfectant products for chiropractic clinics had humble beginnings — as a home cleaner.

The founders of Force of Nature products set out in 2016 to meet consumer demand for a safe, chemical-free disinfectant for use at home. So, the Boston-based company developed a patented appliance that uses electrical current to break apart molecules of salt, water, and vinegar into potent antimicrobial and detergent compounds, producing a nontoxic, all-in-one cleaner and disinfectant. The product soon began selling itself.

“We started hearing from people saying how do we get a lot more of this product? I need it for my kid’s child-care center, my school, my doctor’s office, my gym, my chiropractic clinic, my physical therapy clinic,” says Jennifer Bilyou, vice president of commercial sales for Force of Nature. Users could spray the product on children’s toys, counters, and other surfaces and allow it to air-dry without rinsing. Because Force of Nature disinfectant contains no harmful chemicals, it leaves no toxic residue. “Even if a child puts a toy right into their mouth after cleaning, it’s not harmful,” Bilyou says.

We at Chiro1Source are excited to promote Force of Nature products at industry trade shows and offer starter kits on our website. After launching its original 12-ounce Electrolyzer Appliance for consumers, Force of Nature expanded about two years ago to offer 32- and 64-ounce versions of its device. The Electrolyzer makes available to individuals, clinicians, and other non-industrial users a technology that has been used for years to produce electrolyzed water for industrial applications.

Force of Nature’s products are EPA-approved as hospital-grade disinfectants that kill 99.9% of germs and viruses, including COVID-19 and emerging pathogens such as monkeypox. The Mayo Clinic and the Psoriasis Foundation rate its disinfectant as safe for sensitive skin.

Chiropractors are a rapidly growing market for Force of Nature. The product eliminates the damage bleach, alcohol, and ammonium chloride-based cleaners do to the vinyl covers of clinicians’ treatment beds and the hands of staff members who apply them. “It eliminates the common problems of cracked hands and tables,” Bilyou says. Spas and fitness centers, dentists, physical therapists, optometrists, and other professionals also embrace the product.

Force of Nature can also reduce clinicians’ costs. It eliminates the need to purchase multiple cleaners for different uses. Also, shipping costs are much lower because the disinfectant is made on-site by adding the capsule contents to water in the Electrolyzer. “You can make it as you need it,” Bilyou says. For example, shipping a 6-by-3-inch box of 25 Force of Nature capsules to produce 6.25 gallons of disinfectant would cost about $6, compared with the $12–$15 cost of shipping a bulky 6-gallon bottle of pre-made product, Bilyou says.

Force of Nature’s Pro Starter Kits, which are available on our website, include either a 32- or 64-ounce Electrolyzer, three reusable spray bottles, 10 activator capsules, a free microfiber spray mop, and a free nine-count pack of reusable cleaning cloths. We will also offer starter kits for customers with smaller clinics, including a 12-ounce Electrolyzer and spray bottle,15 activator capsules, and three reusable microfiber cleaning cloths. The company’s Electrolyzers typically last for 1,000 uses, with a one-year “happiness guarantee” of a replacement for dissatisfied customers. Force of Nature also offers lightweight, odor- and stain-removing laundry sheets that work in hot or cold water.

The company sponsors the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, a 36,000-member nonprofit organization formed to educate the public about the value of chiropractic care and its role in drug-free pain management. In all facets of its impact on our customers and the environment, Force of Nature is a product chiropractors can feel good about supporting.
